Ali Farka Touré (born 1939 in Niafunke, Mali) is an African blues singer and guitarist, known throughout the continent when one of its best known performing artist. When a 1st African bluesman to achieve far flung popularity in his at home continent, Touré is typically referred to as "the African John Lee Hooker".
